Hometown map poster

The streets you grew up on, the river you walked along, the square where everyone met — a hometown map keeps a place close when you live far from it. Any town or village in the world, in a style that fits your walls.

Why a hometown map works

People who moved away for study or work rarely have anything of the place itself on their walls. A map is specific without being sentimental: friends recognise the shape of the river or the old town, and you can point at the street where you lived. It also works for parents and grandparents — the town the family comes from.

How to make it

  1. Search the town — PrintMap uses OpenStreetMap, so even small villages are mapped street by street.
  2. Choose how much to show. The whole town as a pattern, or just your neighbourhood so individual streets are readable.
  3. Mark home. The home-shaped centre pin, or several markers for school, the family house and the park.
  4. Add a line. The town name and "Where I grew up", "Always home", or the years you lived there.
💡 For a minimal, gallery-style poster turn the labels off and pick Newspaper, Minimalist or Blueprint. For a warmer, nostalgic look try Vintage or Retro.

Export and print

Download a free PNG (up to 600 dpi) or a vector PDF/SVG in sizes from A4 to A1 or any custom size, or order a print straight from the editor. A hometown poster is a good gift for someone who moved abroad — the print can be shipped to their new address.

Frequently asked questions

Can I map a small village?

Yes. The map data comes from OpenStreetMap, which covers towns and villages worldwide, often down to footpaths and individual buildings.

Can I show place names in my language?

Map labels follow OpenStreetMap; where a place has names in several scripts you can choose Latin, local or both in the label settings.

Can I add more than one marker?

Yes. In Studio mode you can add as many markers as you like, each with its own icon, colour and label.

Is it really free?

Yes, with no account and no watermark. Only a printed copy, if you order one, is paid.
