How to make a wedding map poster
- Find the venue. Search the church, hotel, beach or street address. Zoom so the venue sits in the middle with a few recognisable streets, a river or the coastline around it.
- Mark the spot with a heart. Turn on the centre pin and pick the heart. Make it as big as you like, choose its colour, write your initials or the date inside it — or fill it with a photo of the two of you.
- Write the text. Add a title (your names), a subtitle (the date and place) and the coordinates — PrintMap fills them in from the map.
- Pick a style and size. Light styles suit most interiors; choose A3 or A2 for a frame. Then download the poster or order it printed.
What to write on a wedding map
The text is what makes the map yours. A short title and one line underneath work best on a poster:
- Names: "Emma & Luca", or just your initials for a cleaner look.
- Date and place: "Married in Paris · 14 June 2025", or the date in your own format (14.06.2025).
- A phrase: "Where we said yes", "Where it all began", "Our first dance".
- Coordinates: the latitude and longitude of the venue — a quiet detail guests always notice.
Which places to map
Not only the wedding venue. Couples also choose the place they first met, the café of the first date, the spot of the proposal, the honeymoon island or the first home together. A set of two or three matching posters — same style, same frame — tells the whole story on one wall.
💡 For a gift to the couple, keep the map light and the text dark — it fits almost any home. Dark styles like Midnight look great too, but only if you know their interior.
Sizes, printing and framing
Every poster downloads free as a high-resolution PNG or a vector PDF/SVG, from A4 up to A1 or any custom size in centimetres. Print it at a local shop, or click Order it printed & shipped in the editor: in the US, Canada, the UK and 9 EU countries it is printed by Peecho on art paper, framed or on canvas; everywhere else by Zazzle. A3 (30 × 42 cm) and 50 × 70 cm are the most popular sizes for a frame above a sofa or bed.
Frequently asked questions
Is the wedding map poster really free?
Yes. Designing and downloading are free with no account and no watermark, including 300 dpi exports. You only pay if you choose to order a printed copy from the print shop.
Can I put our names and wedding date on the map?
Yes. Add a title, a subtitle and the coordinates, choose the font and colour, and they are placed on the poster exactly as you see them in the editor.
Can I put text or a photo inside the heart?
Yes. The heart pin takes one or two lines of text (initials, a date) in any colour, and can be filled with your own photo instead of a colour. Its size and colour are adjustable too.
Can I mark the exact venue?
Yes. Use the centre pin (heart, star, home or pin shape) or add one or more markers anywhere on the map in Studio mode.
What size should a wedding map be?
A3 (30 × 42 cm) for a shelf or a smaller wall, A2 or 50 × 70 cm above a sofa or bed. Keep important streets and text away from the edges so a frame mat does not cover them.
